Jersey 4 Life Memo to Members
United DFC’s Jersey 4 Life (J4L) program to provide returnable kit options will be coming to an end, effective Spring/Summer 2025. Since the program’s inception, the club has been able to reduce barriers to competition by supplying match kits to all program participants. The program was a great success to assist with the amalgamation of four clubs into one, however with much stakeholder consultation, the club will be moving away from the current match kit model.
As stated on the UDFC website, the J4L program was due to reach conclusion in 2023. The COVID-19 pandemic did extend the program due to a missed year of play, but we are now in a position to move forward with a new match kit option.
The club will keep financial considerations at forefront of any supplier decision. The intent will be to have players purchase match kits before the 2025 Summer season. These kits and designs will be valid for around 3 years, aligning with the common design cycle of major suppliers. There will be additional consideration for training kit, equipment and apparel, to be discussed as part of a broader supplier management plan.
A designated working group and the Board of Directors will assist with the decision-making process. More information will be made available as supplier negotiations develop.
The Jersey4Life program will only allow the $20 buy-back of blue jerseys up to and including September 30th, 2024. Any players who will be playing the winter season will need to keep the J4L.
